Laura Hackimer, Ph.D.

Dr. Laura Hackimer is a New York State licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist. She holds a doctorate in Educational Psychology with a specialization in School Psychology from The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She has worked with children and adolescents, including those with learning disabilities, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorders, for the past ten years. Her work has included close partnerships with families, school personnel, and other service providers to ensure that interventions are consistent, integrative, and manageable across settings.

Dr. Hackimer’s focus is helping children, adolescents, and adults to build the social-emotional skills necessary to securely navigate their environments, including school, work, and home. She also works closely with parents to find effective techniques and strategies to help support their child’s needs. While her training focused on a cognitive-behavioral perspective, she uses an expanded approach that draws on various methodologies to meet the unique needs of the client and their situation. Her goal is to help clients discover and develop their competence and confidence to successfully and securely cope with the challenges of daily life.
