Kelli Donohue, PhD

Dr. Kelli Donohue is a New York State licensed psychologist and a Certified School Psychologist with over 20 years of experience working in schools and private practice. She has returned to Interactive Discovery to provide therapy for children and adolescents; specializing in general and social anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral and academic challenges, and self-esteem issues. Dr. Donohue uses an integrative approach to therapy, incorporating psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and interpersonal techniques to best address her clients’ needs.

Dr. Donohue holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame, and a master’s degree in educational psychology and a Ph.D. in School Psychology from New York University. During her career she has worked in private practice, foster care, and residential treatment, however, for the last 17 years, she has been counseling our city’s most difficult students at an Alternate Learning Center in the NYC Public Schools. This is where she cultivated her expertise in engaging treatment- resistant youth. By meeting clients where they are, Dr. Donohue dismantles long- standing barriers to care, fostering the trust necessary for meaningful therapeutic engagement.

Dr. Donohue respects the interconnected networks of a child's life through dedicated whole-child advocacy. By bridging the gap between clinical insight, family dynamics, and academic environments, she fosters a unified foundation for lasting well-being. She prioritizes family empowerment, engaging parents into the therapeutic process to deepen relational bonds, establish supportive boundaries, and navigate complex life transitions together. Drawing on her extensive background in neuropsychological evaluation and IEP advocacy, Dr. Donohue facilitates meaningful alignment between schools and families, ensuring that clinical insights are transformed into actionable strategies for academic success. By integrating these multi-dimensional supports, Dr. Donohue helps children and families transform complex challenges into a shared path of resilience and sustainable growth.
