Kat Donina, Psy.D.
Dr. Kat Donina is a New York State licensed psychologist and serves as the Director of Clinical Operations of the Westchester Division at Interactive Discovery. She earned her doctorate from The George Washington University, her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University and her undergraduate degree from CUNY, Hunter College. Dr. Donina is bilingual in Russian and English.
Dr. Donina works with children, teens, adults, and couples, and is especially passionate about supporting children and their caregivers. Her work helps individuals and families develop a deeper understanding of themselves and one another, strengthen emotional regulation, and build upon existing strengths. She supports clients in identifying unhelpful emotional and relational patterns and gently working through the blocks that can interfere with trust, emotional safety, and connection. Her parent coaching focuses on providing guidance and practical support to parents around child development, emotional growth, and strengthening parent-child relationships.
Dr. Donina draws from a flexible range of therapeutic tools, including emotion-focused and insight-oriented interventions, cognitive behavioral approaches, skills-based strategies, and expressive and creative modalities. Her integrative, strengths-based style allows her to tailor therapy to each client while supporting emotional regulation, self-understanding, resilience, and healthy relationships across the lifespan. When working with children and teens, she incorporates play and creative arts approaches to provide a safe and natural way to identify and explore feelings, build insight, and develop emotion regulation skills. These expressive methods are also used across age groups to support reflection, meaning-making, and access to strengths that may be difficult to reach through conversation alone.
Dr. Donina also has experience conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and supporting children, teens, and adults with learning differences and developmental challenges. She works collaboratively with families, schools, and other providers to help individuals better understand how they learn and process information, reduce shame, and identify strengths and supports that promote confidence, growth, and success.
