Community Events
At Interactive Discovery, we believe that building connections beyond the therapy room is essential for creating a strong, supportive community. That’s why we actively participate in local events and school celebrations throughout Park Slope and greater Brooklyn, bringing mental health resources and family-friendly activities into spaces where families already gather. These events not only allow us to connect with neighbors but also provide children, parents, and educators with access to tools that promote resilience, creativity, and emotional wellbeing.
PS 107 Fall Festival
Each year, we join this beloved neighborhood tradition, engaging children and families with interactive activities designed to foster self-expression, teamwork, and creativity. Our table offers art-making stations, interactive games and activities, and opportunities for parents to ask questions about emotional support, executive functioning, and navigating challenges at home or school.PS 321 Spring Carnival: “The Zen Den”
At this lively community carnival, we created and hosted the Zen Den, a calming and restorative space for children and families. In the middle of all the excitement, the Zen Den offered mindfulness activities, quiet art-making, and relaxation tools where children could recharge and practice self-regulation. Parents appreciated having a supportive place to connect with us, have a calm space to destress, and engage in the thoughtful take arts and crafts activities with their kids. The Zen Den has since become a favorite space for both kids and caregivers seeking balance and calm amidst the festivities.Annual Halloween Outreach Event
Annually, Interactive Discovery organizes an exciting Halloween outreach event for the Park Slope community. We distribute candies, treats, and other delightful prizes to children, teenagers, and their parents, fostering a lively and engaging community-building activity. Over the past two years, participants have been invited to respond to entertaining and whimsical questions such as, "What is my superpower?", "If I had a magic power, what would I do?", "What two things would I bring to a deserted island?", and "What fun facts about Earth would I tell an alien?".Wellness Workshops and Pop-Up Events
In addition to school-based festivals, we partner with local organizations, pediatric practices, and businesses to host one-time events centered on wellness, prevention, and family connection. These may include parent education sessions, small-group mindfulness practices, or creative arts-based workshops that promote stress relief and self-regulation.
Through these events, Interactive Discovery makes mental health approachable and engaging, helping families see that support can be accessible, fun, and integrated into everyday life. Our presence also strengthens school-home connections and reinforces our mission of prevention, education, and community partnership.
