She received her doctorate at The George Washington University in Washington DC, her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Teacher’s College, Columbia University and her undergraduate degree at CUNY, Hunter College.  She is bilingual in Russian/English.

Dr. Donina works with individuals of all ages and specifically has extensive experience providing treatment to young children, adolescents and families utilizing a variety of treatment modalities such as play therapy, family therapy, trauma-focused work, parent guidance and leading groups.  Dr. Donina has worked in a variety of settings including school-based and community mental health centers in New York City, Washington DC and in the state of Connecticut.  She specializes in addressing concerns regarding attachment issues, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma (such as sexual and physical abuse, domestic violence), relational and family issues.  In addition, having experience conducting psychological assessments, she is well equipped in working with children who are diagnosed with learning and developmental disabilities. In addition to treatment, she has extensive experience providing school consultation and has worked as a consultant in the Headstart Pre-school classrooms in Stamford, Connecticut.

Additionally, Dr. Donina strongly believes in the importance of differentiating diagnoses through psychological testing and identifying issues underlying an individual’s current presentation of symptoms.  She has experience conducting developmental, psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations.  These evaluations are geared to assess various learning disabilities as well as identify children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder.  She has also participated in a variety of research projects at the New York State Psychiatric Institute as well as Columbia University investigating effects of stress and trauma on children and families, as well as loss and bereavement.

Dr. Donina has a passion for helping individuals access their strengths as she believes that everyone is capable of succeeding and working through the stressors within their lives. As a clinician, she utilizes an integrative approach to treatment, implementing relational, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfulness, as her treatment is driven by the needs of each individual and family.  Fundamentally, Dr. Donina feels that a trusting, collaborative relationship between the therapist and client is what drives change and strives to create a safe environment in which individuals are free to express themselves throughout treatment. Dr. Donina is culturally responsive and works hard to integrate a perspective that explores the impact of culture, race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality on an individual’s life and development.
